If you have been like me lurking around financial blogs for the past two decades, you would at the very least have stumbled across some posts from AK71. Or more likely like me, read every post by him.
He has very likely written his last post, and is retiring from his blog.
Over the past 15 years or so, my interaction with him has been rather limited. However, I do have immense respect for him and what he has achieved. Most importantly, I think he has given more to his readers than what he has taken back.
My personal estimate of his investment return should be somewhere between 15 to 20% CAGR over the past two to three decades. Very impressive considering most of his investments are in the local stock market.
He is known to have a midas touch, amassing his first pot of gold from the GFC by picking up REITS for pennies and riding the REITs boom for a decade. Amazingly, most of his high yield picks did not have a disastrous outcome or he exited just in time (which he shared publicly).
Furthermore, he caught the REITs to Banks rotation with size as the local banks became his top positions over the last 5 years or so. Well, he even managed to buy a couple of Bitcoin three years back at the bottom.
Having access to his conversations with himself has been quite rewarding for me and I have improved as an investor.
Since I am quite sure he can live comfortably on just half his portfolio, I will wish him good health and companionship in his golden years. Perhaps having a pet like a dog or cat could do him alot of good.
Somehow, I am quite confident he will read this post.
Thank you for reading.
